2014 global excess supply of ethylene, or up to 5 million tons

Japan’s trade and Industry (METI) report shows that the global ethylene and its derivatives are still expected surplus from 2014, the amount of excess supply may reach 5 million tons or more, because of too much supply in the Middle East, and the United States to use ethylene production of shale gas can be improved. Asia, significant growth in demand for petrochemical products, particularly in China and India, therefore, the impact of the Asian market to the global market continues to increase. In the coming years, the United States will have a new and additional petrochemical plants appear, especially the shale gas as a feedstock.
